Hi All,

The combined YW met at the church last night, made sure we were dressed WARMLY, and headed out to rake leaves. They did a GREAT JOB clearing up the leaves (with the help of the street lights) from STOUT’S, MAUERMAN’S, and Sr. BLOCKER’S homes—all in record time. Then back to the ward for Sr. Kidd’s GREAT HOT CHOCOLATE and donuts!!! We missed those who couldn’t make it, but COME NEXT TIME, cause it was FUNNNNNNNN!!!

Hello again!

Did you make it to the stake sports volleyball games last Saturday? If not, we still have two more Saturdays before the region games. If you want to be part of the fun, be there at 10:00 am!

Next Wednesday at 6:30 pm we have combined YM/YW mutual. We will be playing Human Foosball! Don't miss it! It will be tons of fun!! We will also be practicing our song "Everywhere I go" before mutual starts. For this you need to be here at 6:00pm specially if you want to learn the descant part of the song.

On Saturday there is a YM/YW Quad Stake Dance. Call each other and go with friends!

And last but not least... Our YW in Excellence is next Sunday! Work on your projects, practice your parts, let's be ready! If you need help, have questions call us, we are here for you.

Attached are some ideas for costumes for the girls representing women of faith. You don't need to buy anything, get curtains, sheets, pillow cases whatever works, it'll be great!

Hey there ladies!!!

In honor of our newest Leader, Sis, Vancott, and in anticipation of our YW in Excellence Program that is fast approaching, we have planned a great activity!!!!!! As per some of your requests, we are going to focus on helping some of you get started (or re-excited) about Personal Progress!! We will be going through some value experiences (and hopefully help you pass some off!) and will give you some tips/advice on your value projects. SO BRING YOUR PERSONAL PROGRESS BOOKS!!!! We will also be planning out your displays for YW in Excellence. We are doing all of this at Sis. Vancott's house!! She has graciously offered her house in an effort to get to know all of you better- she is so excited to be serving with us, and we are soooo excited to have her!! SO, JUST TO RECAP. . . . . . . .

Hello all. This is Erika and I'm soo sorry I haven't bloggest since December! I feel like such a slaker but, here I am blogging away.

Last night was our 4th annual 5K!! Everyone did aMaZiNg! So proud of you all!

It's finally here, HOORAY!!!

Hi ladies!

We're down to the final stretch- WAHOO!! :D Tomorrow night is our annual YW 5K run/walk!!! We are soooo excited for this- whether or not you've been practicing, you should all come anyway! We have t-shirts for EVERYONE, as well as a fun goody-bag full of fun stuff that was donated by different businesses around town. Here are the times and places for tomorrow:

MEET AT CHURCH AT 5:30pm
WE WILL START THE 5K AT BRIDAL VEIL FALLS AROUND 6:00pm
WE SHOULD END AROUND 7 OR 7:30pm AT NUNNS PARK
LIGHT REFRESHMENTS WILL BE SERVED FOR ALL PARTICIPANTS

We can do this, girls! It's a beautiful trail and a whole lotta fun! You can run, walk, run/jog, run/walk, walk/jog, whatever you'd like! Just come and get fit with us!!

Hey girls! Don't forget, tomorrow (Wednesday) is our year-end Personal Progress Pizza Party! It will be at 6:30pm, at Sis. Bates' house (just go straight there, not to the church first). Here's what you need to bring:

1. A wrapped white elephant gift; something you can find around the house, not worth more than $2 ... this is just for fun!
2. An ugly sweater, hat, scarf, etc. We will have a contest to see who could find the ugliest piece of "outerwear."
3. Your Personal Progress Book - if there are goals you need to have signed off, this is the Perfect time to do it.
4. Each other! If you need rides, call one of your leaders, we'll be happy to come and get you if we can.

That's it! Oh, and, Please be Punctual to our Ph-antastic Personal Progress Pizza Party (!).

First of all, THANKS everyone who came out last night. We had a great turnout, and I think the ward members loved having you come by caroling. Hope your toes have warmed up, Liz! : )

A couple more things to remember: This Friday is the ward party, come, bring your families, it should be fun!
Next week is our PP Pizza Party! Check your PP books and see if there is anything we can sign off for you that evening.

This Sunday is Fast Sunday. Is there something you've been meaning to focus your fast on?

It's also BYC, and we are meeting early (11:30) to firm up our mutual schedule for 2010. Class presidents, please make sure you, or one of your counsellors can attend.

And lastly ... are any of you super tech-savvy about downloading pictures off of a computer onto a CD? I need some help! If you know what you're doing and would be willing to help with a little YW project I'm working on, pls let me know. : )

Hi Girls. Happy Wednesday!

Just a few reminders:
Today we are hosting a Veteran's Dinner for all the men/women in our ward who have served in the Military. It's going to be a really nice evening; for them, but especially for you, as you get a chance to talk to these men and women- I think at this point they are all servicemen and women - about their experiences serving our country. I have a particular tenderness when I think of honoring our troupes, and I hope that you will treat them, their stories, and their sacrifices with appropriate respect and appreciation.
With that in mind, please come dressed appropriately. You don't have to wear a church dress, but please don't come in torn jeans, hoodies, sweatpants, etc. Most of these men and women are from a different generation, and how a person dressed was definitely a sign of respect (or disrespect). Think a casual skirt, or some pants and a nice shirt. (I sound like my mom! Now I know why she always made me change when we went for dinner at my grandma's house!). But seriously, please treat this evening with respect and dress accordingly.
We will meet at the church at 5:15pm (notice the time!) so we can set things up and be ready to eat at 6pm. You will be sitting at tables with at least one serviceman/spouse at each table. There will be a list of questions you can ask him/her, and you can take turns asking the questions. If you think of your own questions, please feel free to ask them, or share personal stories - I know a lot of you have had siblings or relatives/friends serve in the military, and this is a good time to share their stories as well. At some point in the evening one person from each table will stand with a microphone and introduce the veteran(s) at their table, using the answers to the questions as a way of telling a bit more about them.
After dinner, please stick around to help clean things up; if we all work together it will get done quickly.
Thank you, in advance, for all your help, and for your sensitivity to this evening. I think it will be a lot of fun, and also something you will remember for a long time. Hey girls -
looks like tomorrow we're going to be able to go watch Stephanie, Michaela, (anyone else?) at their choir concert tomorrow night. It's a Night of Broadway songs, so it should be a really fun concert, especially if we can all sit together and cheer really loud for our girls!
We'll meet at the church as planned, 6:30pm, then go straight over to the high school together. The concert starts at 7pm sharp.

Tomorrow Night...

Hey girls, hope y'all had a great long weekend. Now, back to reality...

Tomorrow night is our Dress Rehearsal for the YW Evening in Excellence program. This means you need to:

1. Come to the church at 6pm (small group), or 6:30pm (everyone else).
2. Bring any music/instruments you might need
3. Wear Sunday dress/skirt - try to make it a solid colored top (can be the color of your favorite value, or just a solid color).
4. Gather up your items for your display. You DON'T need to bring them, but gather them up so you'll know if you have everything you need for Sunday. For those of you who have never done this before you will want to gather up:

- Anything that represents the PP goals you have been working on this year. You made jam? Bring some jam. You have been writing poetry/taking photos? Bring them. You did some service/cleaning around the house? Take a picture, bring it! You performed in a play, bring your dance shoes. You read the BofM? bring your scriptures. You faithfully attended seminary all year? Bring a certificate or just write a little note explaining what you did. Be creative! Go through your PP book and try to remember some of the goals you have completed recently. Your girls camp journal, your own PP book, hiking shoes, a family photo, your 5K shirt (!), a screwdriver (remember fixing all those church chairs? that is good works!), a table setting (remember etiquette night, that is is Individual Worth/Knowledge), a sketch pad from Amber/Kelsey's art lesson (knowledge), a pair of Sunday shoes (remember going to SLC for the YW broadcast? Divine Nature), Nail polish ("Big sister" night with the little girls, making them feel special and important, mother/daughter spa night: Individual Worth), Fudge making with Sister Horne (knowledge), your temple recommend, or a picture of the temple (baptisms for the dead; Faith, Divine Nature, Integrity), a sponge or rag (carwash, good works), did you save anything from youth conference? (Manti pageant, faith; Cleaning grandma's house, Good Works), I don't know about boating and making milkshakes, but the list goes on...

If you can write up something that explains what the goal is/was, that would be ideal. Otherwise just bring what you have and let's show our parents/leaders what you have accomplished this year. (now, before you can actually sign off anything as a goal, you need to check with Sis Books or one of your leaders, but you can bring all this for your display either way).

Please mark on your calendars the HALLOWEEN CARNIVAL we are throwing for the primary kids; it will be on Wednesday, October 28th (instead of our regular activity time). There was some discussion about changing it to the 21st, but some things have come up and we need to keep it on the 28th ... the Wednesday before Halloween.

If you do not yet have an assignment, dont' worry, you'll get one! In the meantime, if anyone wants to help me make posters, e-mail me and let me know. thanks!!

Hey girls - tomorrow night we are having our practice for YW Evening in Excellence, so we will be meeting at the church at 6:30pm, in the primary room for opening exercises. After that, we will go to the chapel where we will practice our group song, you will all get your assignments (and yes, you all have assignments : ), and then the girls who are in the small group will stay and rehearse their song as well. It should be a nice, relaxing night after all our craziness, so just come, sing and hang out with us.

Unless you see snow on the ground (!), we are going to go for the 5K this evening.
Be at the church at 5:45pm with: something WARM (layers!) - it will be cooler up the canyon; maybe bring a jacket and keep it in the car for after the race; your costume stuff for the Stake dress rehearsal; good shoes; eat a little something first, but not too much; your smiling, happy faces!!
Please call each other, pick each other up, etc so we are all at the church ON TIME. There are people waiting at different places for us, so we need to keep on schedule. Call me, or any of your leaders if you need a ride.

Camp. The final countdown!

Hey everyone; the moment we have all been waiting for is ALMOST here! (and I'm not talking about the Jonas Brothers at Stadium of fire). Here are a few reminders:

1. If you got an "extension" on your poster, it is up. Sis Peel needs your posters TODAY.

2. You are allowed the following on the bus: 1 pillow and 1 small backback/carry on to take with you on the bus; 1 sleeping bag and 1 duffle bag to put underneath the bus. ANYTHING else (hiking backpacks, big foam pads, camp chairs, etc) needs to be at Sis Peel's house by TOMORROW (Saturday) at 2pm. She will be loading up a trailer with all that stuff and it will go up separately.

3. If you did not get a T-shirt the other night, please let me or Sis Peel know ASAP. Otherwise, make sure you pack your shirts! Our ward's color is Red, so if you have any other red shirts, bring 'em too!

4. Check your packing list today. You don't want to run around Monday night looking for bug spray, or an "ugly hat"

5. 4th Years. I have talked to all of you separately, but remember that unless you are putting all your clothes, etc. into your hiking backpack, it needs to be at Sis Peel's house tomorrow with all the rest of the gear (Ariana, yours is already there). Also, remember to come to my house Monday at 1pm so we can make our tinfoil dinners.

6. Don't forget to pack a lunch for Tuesday, and bring snacks you might want to eat on the bus. It is going to be hot, so maybe not an egg salad sandwich, if you know what I mean...

That's all for now, but check your email throughout the weekend for additional reminders. Oh, like this one:

TOMORROW IS FLAGS at 7:30am and 7:30pm. IF YOU ARE GOING TO CAMP YOU SHOULD BE THERE!! You may have noticed that you have never had to pay a penny for girls camp, even though it is not cheap, and many wards require at least a partial payment from their youth, or a big fundraiser. That is because our "fundraiser" is the flags - the ward members donate to our "flag fund" every year and it pays for your camp and other activites. It goes without saying that if you are benefitting from the "flag fund" you ought to be out there helping us put up the flags, right? Tho't so!! See you bright and early. If you need a ride, call any leader; we would love to come pick you up!

Hey again. Thanks for getting me those signed permission forms, looks like we're
all set to go. One last reminder; when you bring your stuff to the church at

it rains or gets dusty, your stuff won't get ruined. If you have a small
suitcase it can go on the trailer as well, just make sure it's OK to get wet or
dusty, or put it in a garbage bag as well. You can keep a small bag or backpack
in the car with you as we travel (it's about 90 minute drive).

We will be walking around for about an hour before the pageant so wear comfy
shoes. (Do I sound like a mom yet?). Make sure you go potty before we leave!

Alright, we are on the final countdown here for youth conference. I still need permission forms from: Haley W., Amber, Kelsey, Kathryn, Caroline, Liz and Erika. You cannot come without your signed form!!!

Please read over the letter you got the other night and make sure you have all the stuff you need to bring. I just spoke with a woman who works with the pageant, and she said they get a lot of mosquitos, so make sure to wear long pants/sleeves and bring bug spray! She also said it gets cold, so you'll want a jacket for sure, and an extra blanket (**We need extra blankets anyway to put on the chairs to reserve them, so bring an old blanket if you can and just hold onto it in the car). She also said there might be some rain, but they have only cancelled the pageant once in 40 years, so bring an umbrella or rain jacket to be safe.

Goblin Valley

This weekend we went to Goblin Valley. It was SOOOO fun!
We left on Friday at about 4. We drove to Price and stopped at Wendy's for dinner. We then drove to the camp and set up. After, we went to Goblin Valley. The rock formations were really cool. Goblin Valley is called that because the formations look like goblins. Anywho, we played games until about 11 and then went back to camp to hear stories, told by Brother Soper.

Saturday we woke up at about 8 and cleaned up camp. We then went back to Goblin Valley because we all wanted to see it during the day time and we all wanted to take pictures. (Sounds like us.) We then went on a 2 and a half hour hike. 2 1/2 miles up, 2 1/2 miles down. It was really pretty and super fun! After the hike we headed home. We stopped in Price again and went to Taco Bell for dinner! (:

About two weeks ago we all headed over to Sister O'Barr's house for pizza, white elephant gifs, and an ugly sweater contest. It was so much fun!

Today the Young Men and Young Women went caroling! Thanks everyone who helped with the hay ride, refreshments, and whatever else had to be done!! And thank you Monica for the pictures!

Extreme Room Makeover

Hi girls! Ok, as we talked about in YW, our activity this week is "Extreme Room Makeover." We will be making over the YW room into a more cozy place for you to call your own! We will have several stations set up. This is a list of some of the things we will be doing. If you want to request to be in a certain group, write back and let Sister O'Barr (everyone should have her e-mail) know. You might not get your first pick, so if you have a preference, give me your second and third choices as well.

1. Floral arrangement; learn the basics on how to put together a cute flower arrangement (using the 7 value colors, of course!)
2. Treats; learn how to make a quick, yummy treat that you can share with everyone
3. Bulletin Boards; we have three separate boards that require cutting, gluing, picture-arranging, etc.
4. Picture hanging; use a real hammer and nail, and using a level to hang things properly on the wall. Very useful skill!
5. Closet spelunking; discover the depths of the YW closet; uncover hidden treasures from Young Women in the past (like, early 21st century theme cards!)

Also, if any of you have any other ideas (like, you want to cross-stitch the theme for a YW project) let me know. Spread the word and we'll see you all Wednesday!!

We are having a self defence class. It is combined with the 4th and 8th ward but it is in our church building in the culture hall at 6:30. Hope to see you guys there! It is going to be really fun!!!

Tonight we went over to the Beadle's house and painted pumpkins! It was so mcuh fun! Everyone did something awesome!! I loved looking at them all. Then we ate some carmel apples! The carmel was the best! (Thanks Sis. Horne).
We also sang the songs for the YW in Excellence. (Which is this Sunday by the way). Everyone sounds amazing!!

Today we had a combined YM/YW activity. We played soccer and ultimate frisbee.

We all had fun trying to get the ball away from the amazing Brother Soper.

Of course the light shirt time won every game but the darks aka "Team Taylor" (no one really liked this name) tried their best!

Everyone also loved the Island Ways Sorbet and the Fat Boys!

Also loved the cartwheel challenge to see how could go the farthest
